Furnace Heating Tune-Up Checklist | Bryant Heating & Cooling
At Bryant Heating & Cooling, we know furnaces and boilers inside and out — we've been performing heating tune-ups across the Columbus area since 1995. When your furnace or boiler is due for a tune-up, one of our qualified technicians comes out and performs a precision, top-to-bottom service. Here's exactly what that includes.
Our heating tune-up checklist
A real tune-up is more than a quick look. On every visit our technicians work through the full system:
- Remove and clean the burners
- Remove and clean the pilot burner and orifice
- Test the hot surface igniter
- Test all safety limits
- Clean the flame sensor
- Adjust gas pressure
- Clean the drain trap
- Remove and clean the flue pipe
- Clean the return drop
- Clean the blower area and filter rack
- Remove the blower assembly when necessary (for a visual heat-exchanger inspection, cleaning, and so on)
- Clear out the pressure-switch ports
- Test the pressure-switch terminals
- Check and repair any loose terminals or wires
- Record amp draw on the blower and inducer assembly
- Take and record the total system amp draw at the line connection
- Take and record the temperature rise
- Recommend media-filter replacement if it's older than one year
Why a yearly tune-up pays off
This level of service does more than tick boxes. Cleaning burners and the flame sensor keeps combustion clean and efficient; testing safety limits and checking the heat exchanger protects your family; and recording amp draw and temperature rise lets us catch a failing motor or airflow problem before it leaves you without heat on the coldest night. A well-tuned furnace runs more efficiently, lasts longer, and is far less likely to break down mid-winter.
