Furnace Trade-In & Free Second Opinion: When to Replace Your Furnace
Winter is the season furnaces fail, and it is also when homeowners get hit with surprise replacement quotes. At Bryant Heating & Cooling we make that decision easier in two ways: we offer trade-in value on your old furnace or air conditioner, and we give a free second opinion on any replacement quote. Here is how both work, and how to tell if it is really time for a new furnace.
How our furnace and AC trade-in works
When you replace your heating or cooling system with us, your old equipment does not just go to the curb. We apply trade-in value toward your new furnace, air conditioner or heat pump, which lowers what you pay out of pocket. Pair it with HVAC financing and utility rebates where they apply, and a high-efficiency upgrade can cost less than you expect.
- Trade in an old furnace, air conditioner or heat pump
- Value applied directly to your new system
- Free, no-pressure quote on the new equipment
- Ask about current trade-in value when you call (614) 855-9010
Got a replacement quote? Get a free second opinion
Not every "you need a new furnace" is true. A failed igniter, flame sensor or inducer motor can make a furnace look finished when a repair would get you several more winters. If another company quoted you a replacement, Ron Bryant will look at your system and the quote for free. You get an honest answer, and if replacement is the right call, a side-by-side comparison so you know you are paying a fair price.
When you compare quotes, check that each one includes:
- A furnace sized for your home, not just matched to the old unit
- The efficiency rating (AFUE) of the new furnace
- Parts and labor warranty terms
- Permits, haul-away of the old unit and any venting or gas line work
Signs it is time to replace your furnace
- Age: most furnaces last 15 to 20 years. Past that, efficiency drops and repairs add up.
- Frequent repairs: if you are calling for service every season, that money may be better spent on a new system.
- Rising gas or electric bills with no change in how you use your home.
- Uneven heat, cold rooms or a furnace that runs constantly.
- Safety concerns such as a cracked heat exchanger or carbon monoxide alarms.
A quick way to decide is the $5,000 rule for HVAC: multiply the age of your furnace by the repair cost. Over $5,000, replacement usually makes more sense.
What does a new furnace cost?
In Central Ohio, a standard furnace replacement typically runs about $3,000 to $5,500, and high-efficiency models about $5,500 to $7,000 or more. See our furnace replacement cost guide and furnace installation cost by fuel type for details. Your trade-in value comes off the top.
